RY 13/14 First Meeting

Hello!

Finally we're back in action for the first meeting for RY 13/14, Engage Rotary, Change Lives!

Aligned with the new term's objective, we have a series of plan within the community and the members to build and empower them. The most importantly, we begin with the Public Speaking for the members on certain topics to built soft skills in communication and confidence.

We had the first to go with Pei Ern, our Fashion Marketeer, who just graduated to share her academic point of views.

Dear Samantha is our dear holder for her presentation

The following are samples of her work together with her class mates in marketing or branding certain items on the industry.

There are many different careers in the community, it's time we learn more about one another and open up our network for future under goings.

Cheers,
HuiJin Liew

Zoo Negara, here we come!

Animals are the nature's ambassador. Rotaract Club of Pudu are happy to be involved in helping the country's National Zoo, zookeeper in getting the animal's static living place safe and hygienic.

Well, by first impression, we get a lot of jokes where participants ask if we will be scooping up poops and feeding animal, or even picking up tiger milk!

Indeed. They were all true. We did fed the wildlife, and nonetheless, picked up the poops.

We gathered around the vicinity at 8am in the morning on 28 October 2012 and we had a small briefing for safety for each volunteer. From RAC Pudu, we have total of 40 volunteers of Rotaract members from different club including Singapore and Taiwan, and guests.

I'm glad to know we have RAC Penang who are interested to join us, but its too much of a distance too. Perhaps, next time around. Just like how I'd love to join their activities all the way up north at Penang.

The briefing

All of us are separated in groups and we are given rather different task.

Some of us are brought to the animal show to help, my group are brought over to the wildlife to clean up their homes, and some were brought to kids section where they are given direct contact to the tamer animals.
President MoMo

Well, truly it is tiring. Gotto learn to appreciate the time the zookeeper spend with the animal in order to keep them healthy for the generation to get an upclose with the wildlife.

During out breaktime, we took the opportunity to visit around too. Get more photos at Marcus' and credits to Timothy for the pictures uploaded here.

The volunteer program is very essential for us to understand that all the work behind the scene are not always that beautiful as it appears to be. It takes a lot of effort and heart to keep the Zoo as Zoo you see as a visitor.

I hope that it gives a good chance for all the volunteers a worthwhile experience in a lifetime. I thank everyone in joining us and also making this one of our successful events in this term.

Cheers,
HuiJin Liew

Visitation to Jenjarom Old Folks Home.

Hey hey! Recently RAC Pudu together with Rotary Club of Pudu had organised a visitation to Old Folks Home at Jenjarom. For your information, we actually do go there annually.

Momo, Samantha, Timothy

We always bear in mind to spare some time to go over and visit as this is a way we remind them that there are people who cares for them  and are willing to lend our helping hand.

We are very fortunate to get sponsors for goodie bags for them. Like pants and shirts, for really practical use.

With sponsors from Rotarians, we manage to provide them food like Dim Sum, Yong Tau Foo and Siew Yoke (Roasted Pork). I heard they loved them! :P

All the happy faces.

p/s that is our lovely Siew Ping Jie. :D

The also have a little singer Lucas to sing for the folks there.

One thing is always for sure, is we never forget fellowship among ourselves. We headed to Pulau Carey for lunch!

Missing out some part of the news? Let me know.

I guess, it is true that it doesn't matter if whether or not I am physically there, cuz network makes everything happen. Look at me writing this update for you guys now. :D All I did, was just to ask.

Roshan Thiran from Leaderonomics said, "Ask, and you shall receive."

Cheers,
