On 23rd July 2011, we had our community service project, a screening of Transformers 3 for the orphans. This was a joint project with RAC Subang and RAC Ampang. The venue for this project was held at Golden Screen Cinema, IOI Mall Puchong. The total participants for this project were 108 pax. We, from Rotaract Club of Pudu brought 25 orphans from Rumah Shalom. Among the 19 volunteers included were our members and guests.
We were responsible to fetch and take good care of the orphans. The time of the movie screening was at 9.30am. So, on the day itself, volunteers of RAC Pudu reached Rumah Shalom at 8.45am. After allocating the kids to the cars driven by us, we depart to our destination. The kids were so excited for the movie and were talking about it in the car. Before we got into the theatre, everyone queued up to collect their free drink and popcorn. The kids were being assigned by our volunteers. The movie starts sharply at 10.00am. The Transformer 3 was screened in 3D, so each child was given a 3D glass. After the movie ended, each Rotaract club brought the kids to different places for lunch. For RAC Pudu, we brought the kids from Rumah Shalom for Mc Donald. During the lunch, all the children were happily talking about the movie. After that, we fetch them back to Rumah Shalom. The children reached home safely, they too were happy. Lastly, they thanked us for a memorable outing.
